WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON THE TOUR?
Other than an adventure of a lifetime with friends and family, our Maui tours include transportation local alcohol producers (beer, wine, and spirits), walking tours at each facility with guided tastings and a delectable, locally sourced lunches. You can also expect enthusiastic, knowledgeable guides who are happy to answer your questions about Maui, its craft community, and the products you’ll taste (and the artisans who created them!). Plus, we can make some great recommendations about other must see / do / eat options!
HOW MUCH TIME WILL WE SPEND AT EACH TOUR STOP?
You’ll spend roughly 45–60 minutes at each stop, enjoying tours and tastings hosted by expert tour staff.
ARE THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR THE TOUR?
Persons must be at least 21 years of age to reserve and participate in any Maui Craft Tours excursion—no exceptions. Valid ID must be shown to your Tour Guide prior to departure.
HOW MANY PASSENGERS ARE ALLOWED?
Tours require a minimum of four to six passengers; depending on the tour itinerary (with the exception of private tours). You are not required to register a party of four passengers; but at least four total passengers must book in order for the tour to proceed. If the passengers count is not met, Maui Craft Tours will call or email you within 24 hours of your scheduled tour to make arrangements to move your reservation to another date (when possible) or process a refund. There is a maximum number of 13 guests allowed on each tour.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
Cancellation occurring prior to 72 hours will be eligible for a full refund of your fare. Cancellation occurring between 72 and 48 hours of tour time will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellation occurring within 48 hours of tour date will not be eligible for refund. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund if you arrive late for pickup and miss the bus for any reason.
Maui Craft Tours reserves the right to cancel tours due to unsafe weather or unfavorable roadways. Consideration for such circumstances is determined by the Owners and Tour Guides. At time of tour cancellation due to said circumstances, all available efforts will be taken to notify the scheduled customers; including call, email or text.
Note: Passengers that appear to be intoxicated at beginning of tour, at the discretion of the Tour Guide, will not be allowed on the tour and no refund will be applied.
WHERE DO THE TOURS START?
All of our tours begin at Maui Tropical Plantation which is located in Waikapu, Hawaii. Please plan on arriving at 15 – 30 minutes prior to departure time to get checked in as all of our tours include the opportunity to visit our friends at Mill House Roasting Co. We also offer door-to-door pickup and drop-off service for $50-$100, depending on location; please see our booking page for details.
IF I’M NOT DRINKING, MUST I PAY FOR A TICKET?
Yes, everyone participating in the tour must purchase a ticket. There will be opportunities to try some great food and non-alcoholic beverages along the way too!
WHERE DO I PARK MY CAR?
There is ample parking at each of the morning meet-up locations. We also offer door-to-door pickup and drop-off service for $25-$50, depending on location; please see our booking page for details.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
- A valid photo ID: This is a requirement in order to board the bus and will be requested at each location where alcohol is served
- Layers: Consider bringing a light jacket or sweatshirt, as the temperature changes significantly from high up on the hill vs. lower to the ocean.
- Extra funds: There are a lot of opportunities to buy craft swag and souvenirs along the way!
- Cash: Just in case you feel like sharing a little aloha with your Maui Craft Tour Guides! (tour responsibly, tip recklessly!)
WHAT SHOULD I LEAVE AT HOME?
Since we provide each guest with a sustainable, reusable beverage container and water, we ask that you refrain from bringing any plastic bottles onboard. We are as passionate about environmental sustainability and ocean health as we are about craft—please NO plastic!!
WHY DON’T YOU OFFER DOOR-TO-DOOR SERVICES ON MAUI’S WEST SIDE?
Unfortunately, due to the time-sensitive nature of our tours, we are unable to offer door-to-door service for destinations on Maui’s West Side (Lahaina, Kahana, Kapalua, and Napili) because of the unpredictable nature of Honoapiilani Hwy (Hwy 30). Traffic on this two lane coastal highway is often delayed with traffic resulting from surf conditions, accidents, and weather. If we were to become stuck in this traffic, we would have to cancel the tour for all guests. We are actively working on options to supplement this service through partnerships with local transport and will add this option as soon as it’s available.
SHOULD I TIP MY GUIDE AFTER THE TOUR?
Thanks for asking. Tips are never expected but always appreciated!
AM I ALLOWED TO DRINK ON THE BUS?
Unfortunately, no. There are very specific rules governing alcohol consumption on Maui. All tastings will be limited to licensed areas at each stop along the way. You may pick up some beverages along the way that we’ll happily store in the back of the bus until we drop you off at the end of the tour. Consumption of any alcohol not included as a part of the tour will result in immediate removal from the tour.
WILL FOOD BE PROVIDED DURING THE TOUR?
Yes. We include a locally sourced, handcrafted lunch midway through every tour. You’ll find details about the available menu options in each tour description and you will pre-select your lunch option when you book your tour. We also partner with some of the best local snack makers to provide you with some tasty grindz along the way.
CAN I SMOKE ON THE BUS?
Nope. Not at all. NO smoking on the bus, of anything at all. Additionally, every one of the stops along the way is smoke-free.
CAN I GO ON THE TOUR WITHOUT A RESERVATION?
Unfortunately, no. All seats on the bus must be reserved in advance.
